Customers of transport companies require the GPS signal of their cargo more and more often. In a situation where deliveries are made by many subcontractors, the tracking process is tedious and time-consuming. Futura Cargo has simplified it by integrating telematics data in one place – the CO3 platform.

When the CO3 company was founded, we knew that transparent communication is the basis of every relationship with a client or partner. We knew as well that we wanted to create valuable services: basing on the business transparency and connecting the three key sides of the supply chain: shippers, forwarders and carriers – says Grzegorz Patynek, CEO at CO3.

In brief:

  • Futura Cargo, a company providing road transport in Europe, operates on the basis of the services of subcontractors, often being micro-companies.
  • The use of multiple carriers proved problematic as customers began to expect the GPS signal of their cargoes to be transmitted.
  • Futura Cargo has decided to implement the CO3 platform which integrates signals from many suppliers. In the course of work, it was also necessary to develop a method of transferring information to another system used by one of the key clients.
  • CO3 not only coordinated the carrier registration process on its platform, but also developed a method for integrating data with the Futura Cargo client system without having to re-register carriers.

Description of the situation before the implementation of the CO3 visibility system

Futura Cargo provides road transport in the EU, it also reaches countries such as Norway, Serbia and Macedonia. Carrying out transports for the largest European producers of household appliances, companies from the FMCG sector and metallurgical concerns, it focuses on high standards of service, punctuality and flexibility. The company works mainly with transport micro-companies, among which there are various GPS devices. As more and more customers began to expect Futura Cargo to send a load location signal, dispatchers faced the challenge of collecting data from individual subcontractors in a wide variety of formats. Therefore, the company wanted to find a solution that would make it possible to harmonize and integrate data from the entire fleet in one place and improve the transparency of the supply chain by increasing the availability of information for customers. An important criterion for selecting the system was the simplicity of the carriers’ implementation. It was decided to use the CO3 platform. – Our partners’ trucks usually have GPS installed, but they are systems from different companies. So far – in a situation where customers have asked for a location signal – the transfer of data from many carriers has been quite problematic – reports Michał Podgórski, CEO of Futura Cargo. That is why we decided to implement the CO3 platform that allows to integrate the GPS data of various suppliers in one place – he explains.

Implementation process and CO3 functionalities used

The first step in the process of the system launch was to communicate to subcontractors, what the project was about, how the CO3 platform works and what the implementation results will be. For example, it was said that each of the carriers registered in the system has access to it and can control at any time which vehicles are visible to Futura Cargo. The resulting benefits were also indicated – among others the possibility to check the location of the vehicle in real time, that allows you to quickly react to problems and communicate the situation to the client. Subsequently, the systematic entry of subcontractors’ trucks to the CO3 platform began. A turn in events took place in October 2020, when one of Futura Cargo’s key customers, using a different data integration system, asked for the transfer of the GPS signal of its cargo to the platform. Futura Cargo wanted to meet the client’s expectations, avoiding the need to register subcontractors on another platform. CO3 found a way to combine both tools. – CO3 is a system integrating solution. Although so far we have focused mainly on connecting the systems of telematics service providers with internal customer tools, nothing stood in the way of integrating with another platform supporting the transparency of the supply chain – says Grzegorz Patynek, CEO of CO3. – We contacted representatives of the platform used by the client of Futura Cargo, we agreed on the method of operation and started work. Within two weeks, we had a solution that Futura Cargo could use, and ultimately also any other CO3 customer – he reports.

The effect of integrating the Futura Cargo GPS systems on the CO3 platform

Thanks to the CO3 platform, checking and transmitting signals from individual carriers to customers does not require entering many systems. Everything is available in one place. Consequently, meeting the informational expectations of customers is simpler and faster. Additional benefits result from the easy process of introducing new carriers to the platform – regardless of what telematics systems they use. A useful functionality of CO3 is also the access to archival data. For example, if the customer claims that the carrier has arrived at the unloading site delayed, the situation can be clearly explained on the basis of the generated archive report. Additionally, you can trace the entire route of the vehicle carrying out the order on a map. Thanks to the CO3 platform, monitoring of our clients’ orders in real time has become a reality. This has a positive effect on the improvement of the transparency of deliveries and minimizes the time spent on contact with transport companies. Cooperation with CO3 supports our constant strive to offer the services of the highest quality – sums up Michał Podgórski, CEO of Futura Cargo. The cooperation with Futura Cargo, the implementation process of its subcontractors and integration with the platform of one of its clients helped us develop our solution. Thanks to it we are even more effective in providing necessary data to transport companies and their contractors – concludes Agnieszka Nikiel, Head of Operations in CO3.

„Thanks to the CO3 platform, real-time monitoring of our customers’ orders became a fact and it supports our internal processes related to transparency, as well as minimizes the time spent on contact with the drivers. The cooperation with CO3 supports our aspiration to provide top-quality services”.

Michał Podgórski, General Director Futura Cargo

“Cooperation with conscious customers, such as Futura Cargo and their subcontractors allows us to improve the quality of our processes and to become even more efficient in handling customers and providing service.”

Agnieszka Nikiel, Head of Operations w CO3
